I love sea turtles! This is a wheel thrown, raku fired moon jar glazed inside and out. Different species of sea turtles swim 'round this jar among red fishes: Leatherback, Loggerhead, Green Sea Turtle and a Ridley. All are beneath the watchful eye of a sea turtle swimming on a reef.
Here in Florida we are very protective of our sea turtles, so I like to celebrate them in my art.
The raku fire transformed these glazed turtles into beautiful colors, and the white glaze into a crackly finish.
