A pattern of sea turtles swimming around this lidded moon jar is interwoven in a lively way with lapis waves of water. The shells have been turned copper by the raku fire, and the unglazed interior and lid show off the beautiful dark color of carbonized clay in contrast with the metallic shine of the glaze.
This large moon jar is thrown in white stoneware clay and glazed with my own personalized combination of raku glazes.
