This is a steampunk bird I saw heading over the water one day when I was at the beach. He's equipped to fly long distances, like a Florida Snowbird, with goggles and flight cap - accessorized to the max!
It's the blending of whimsy with nature that inspires me to tell a story like this in clay. And like so many of my ceramic sculptures, this bird has a really memorable personality. I laughed as I made him, and hated to let him go when I finished him. I would like him to find a forever home with someone who will smile often at him.
